Windows7 64 bit install HOW TO?

Hi. My production servers are running the helicon isapi 2.0 X86 rewriter. I am hoping to be able to take that httpd.ini and run it on my development machine (windows 7 64 bit). My app pools and IIS7 though are 32 bit and enable 32bit applications is set to true on all my sites.
I have tried multiple different versions now of isapi_XX and none seem to work properly. The only one that came close was the vista 32 bit version but that resulted in w3wp debug errors on every w3wp call. Adding network service with full permission did not fix the issue.
I have tried the isapirw_x64_0078_manual.exe and http://www.isapirewrite.com/docs/#install but no luck there either. Did the registry at HKLM>Software>Helicon>ISAPI_Rewrite>InstallDir / C:\Helicon. Tried IISReset and have the module registered in the root of IIS and the site I am hitting and still nothing.

All I want to do is get my rewriterules to work on my local box so I don't have to keep pushing builds to my production servers for testing. Tedious to say the least. My proxy rules etc don't need to run. Any chance you could provide an idiots guide to installing this on Windows 7 64 bit? Sincerely appreciate it.
Running my restore point now as it is completely fubar in the registry etc.
Would the 3.0 version be better here if all I want to do is test my rules? Are the httpd.ini files the same between versions? I will go with any solution here.

ISAPI_Rewrite 2 was initially designed for IIS5.0, which was a long time ago. With evolution if IIS ISAPI_Rewrite had to evolve as well. ISAPI_Rewrite 3 was designed to match IIS6 and had some serious differences in syntax. HeliconApe is a an extended variation of ISAPI_rewrite 3 for IIS7+ and is something Helicon\tech is so proud of.

ISAPI_Rewrite 2 no longer releases new builds. The last modifications were made to suit IIS6, but not higher, so depending on your rules it may or may not work for IIS7 at your Windows 7.

There're 2 workaround I may suggest:
1) to create a virtual machine with IIS6, at least. And use it for dev environment with ISAPI_Rewrite 2
2) to install ISAPI_Rewrite 3, which has a magnificent feature "Import from ISAPI_Rewrite 2" in its manager. And use ISAPI_Rewrite 3 to test the rules.

Taking into consideration the time difference between ISAPI_Rewrite 2 and Windows 7 there could be no straightforward solution.

I was able to get the vista 32 bit running. It took a bit of uninstall reinstall. I also think you might have to get network service attached to the x86 installation location.
