Ruby Hosting Package and IIS6
Hi,
I am trying to get Sinatra to work on an IIS6 / Windows 2003 server.
I have Sinatra, Ruby, etc. installed (via Web Package Installer) but when trying to get Ruby Hosting Package installed it fails to install the dependency of Ruby 1.9 Development Kit.
I have installed the 1.9 Development Kit directly (outside of the Web Platform Installer) without issues; but the WPI still thinks it's not installed, so fails the dependency to get the Ruby Hosting Package installed.
Does anyone know of a way around this?
I've created a demo Sinatra app under the site but it doesn't work. I'm guessing because there's nothing in IIS to link the config.ru to a cgi, rather than just to serve it as static content.
Any suggestions? Is there a way to avoid the dependency, or to manually get the Hosting Package installed?
Mike.

Re: Ruby Hosting Package and IIS6
Hello.
IIS 6 isn’t supported. The key element—Helicon Zoo module—doesn’t work on IIS6.
The software can be only installed on systems with IIS 7 or IIS 7.5, such as Windows 2008, 2008 R2, Vista, Windows 7.

Oh ... I didn't find anything about IIS version in the web pages I saw Ape works on IIS6 so thought Zoo would. Okay - thanks. I'll have to go back to the drawing board as I have no option to upgrade IIS.

It took a bit of searching to find the solution, but luckily thanks to site to write my thesis the fix turned out to be quite simple. All I had to do was specify “-DependencyVersion Highest“, in order to force the installed package to target the latest version of its dependencies.
