Need to Run WWW Service in IIS 5.0 Isolation Mode

I recently installed ISAPI_rewrite3 on IIS 6 on a 2003 R 2 server. In order to get it work, I have to set the IIS 6 to run WWW service in IIS 5.0 isolation mode. This service is not compatible with other websites I am running on this server. Can you help me please?

Hello,

ISAPI_Rewrite should work in IIS5 isolation mode, however, it is not necessary. IT was designed to work on IIS6 regular mode.
IN case you can't make it work, pls, provide error.log. Possible issue could be permissions - http://www.helicontech.com/isapi_rewrite/doc/security.htm

I have reviewed all the security permissions and they look correct. Here is what is in the error log:

Hi Again Andrew,
This is a follow-up to my previous email I seem to have ISAPI_Rewrite3 working on the root directory, but it only seems to do so with asp files (e.g. exchange server OWA files). I have attached the log files. This is all very strange since I have ISAPI_rewrite functioning on my test webserver with no problems. But cannot seem to get it working on my production server. I am wondering if there is a web.config file that I should be editing?

Success. I got ISAPI working on my production site running IIS6. The problem was the DefaultAppPool had the wrong Application Identity. Reset it to Network Service and it works like a charm.
