Help with non-FQDN URLs.

28 May 2014, 19:25

Hello,

I am wondering if your products will help.

I have SharePoint sites configured to work with full qualified domain names (FQDN), http://sharepoint.domain.com. However, some user access the site has http://sharepoint, and SharePoint does not like this. I have alternative access mappings in SharePoint set with both FQDN and the non-FQDN, but this does not help. DNS settings are correct, as both FQDN and non-FQDN are routed to the server and the site.

Users can type in http://sharepoint into an IE browser, and it will add the domain.com on the end, but if the user has a full link, with directories and a page name, like http://sharepoint/dir/dir/default.aspx, then the domain.com is not added. Users have old short-cuts, hyperlinks, favorites and such where this problem occurs.

I have SharePoint 2013 with SQL Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 and IIS 8.

Could I configure IIS to handle this request correctly and add the domain.com?

Can Helicon help?

Hello,

I guess the following rule should help you:

RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^sharepoint$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://sharepoint.domain.com/$1 [NC,R=301,L]

In this age of the web, a trademark is not quite the same as a domain name enrollment or even an organization name enlistment. A legitimate trademark guarantees that one has the selective and in addition the lawful appropriate for the service, brand or item inside the geological area that the rights have been secured for.
