Description of RewriteLogLevel levels?

For the RewriteLogLevel directive, is there a description of any of the log levels between 0 and 9?

9 is way too verbose for production and sometimes it's nice to have something like at least which request is coming in.

RewriteLogLevel directive
Description: Sets the level of logging
Syntax: RewriteLogLevel Level
Default: RewriteLogLevel 0
Context: server config

This directive sets the verbosity of logging output. The default value of 0 means no logging while maximum level of 9 means all actions will be logged.

Hello,

Sorry, there's no description in ISAPI_Rewrite documentation. You can see in Ape's documentation the corresponding 9 levels here - http://www.helicontech.com/ape/doc/mod_ ... m#LogLevel

Hi Andrew, thanks.

So I see APE has 9 log levels, but since ISAPI_Rewrite has 0 for off and 9 for "all the way on", that is 10 levels right?

Can you map the ISAPI Rewrite numbers to the ape text from the docs?:

none — Log nothing
emerg — Emergencies - system is unusable
alert — Action must be taken immediately
crit — Critical Conditions
error — Error conditions
warn — Warning conditions
notice — Normal but significant condition
info — Informational records
debug — Debug-level messages

To be honest with you, it's been a while. I only use 9 or nothing. Depending on the server the log file will be populated quite rapidly. So I'd usually take off the logging (which still writes error.log with messages like "config file was loaded successfully" ). Or, in case, there're issues, I use 9 to see how each request was processed and then turn it off.

Andrew
