DNN 7 and Extensionless URLs
We're launching several new sites on DNN 7.3.x and would like to use the "advanced" extensionless URL's built into the DNN framework. We have two servers - development and production - both running Windows 2008 R2 SP1, IIS 7.5, and both have the required Microsoft hotfix which enables IIS to serve extensionless URLs.
Everything works great on our staging server without ISAPI_Rewrite 3.
On our production server, where ISAPI_Rewrite 3 is installed, DNN advanced URL mode completely breaks the rich text editor (CKEditor).
Both servers function properly when using the DNN "humanfriendly" URLs - with the .aspx extension.
1) How can we confirm that ISAPI_Rewrite 3 is breaking the production server?
2) What Rewrite Rules might solve the problem so we can use advanced mode on the production server?
DNN describes the changes for advanced mode here: http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/page/ac ... management
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Re: DNN 7 and Extensionless URLs
You're the first user to address DNN collaboration issue.
Unfortunately we do not know what ISAPI_Rewrite3 rules you're using and the objectives of ISAPI_Rewrite on your Prod server. Could you, please, elaborate the scenario? Also, it would be beneficial to take a look at the error.log and rewrite.log of the ISAPI_Rewrite3. Please, follow our FAQ to enable logging - http://www.helicontech.com/forum/10648-FAQ.html

Re: DNN 7 and Extensionless URLs
Thanks for the reply. We're not sure if Rewrite3 is even the culprit. As a test, I removed the Rewrite3 ISAPI Filters from ONE of our IIS test sites, and deleted the .htaccess file from the web root folder. Under that scenario, will Rewrite3 continue to affect the site? (The problem still exists even after doing that.)
Re: DNN 7 and Extensionless URLs
Problem has been solved. We had been using Port80 Software's Server Defender VP, but even though it was turned off (services stopped, etc.) it was still preventing IIS from properly serving pages with extensionless URL's. After uninstalling it, the problem went away. If anyone is considering - or using - Server Defender VP, I would strongly suggest getting rid of it. (A previous version of SDVP actually caused SQL Injection on one of our DNN5 sites.)
Could you comment on my previous question? I'd still like to know - does Rewrite3 continue to affect a site if the ISAPI Filters are removed and the .htaccess file is deleted?
Thanks.

Re: DNN 7 and Extensionless URLs
Glad you figured this out.
Regarding your question - ISAPI_Rewrite3 is NOT affecting site or site's performance if the .htaccess is removed and isapi filters are removed. IT's simply not possible )
