trial version suddenly stopped working

I recently installed a trial version which has been working perfectly until today when it seems to have suddenly stopped.
IIS6 windows 2003 ISAPI_Rewrite 3

I did make a change to the .htaccess file but once I discovered the rewriting had stopped I reversed the changes but to no avail.

I've checked the info on the admin and it tells me there are 32 days left on the trial.

I'll happily register and buy the license if this will solve the issue but don't want to do that if there is something else going on.

Any help or guidance on where or what I might need to look for to try and trace the problem gratefully recieved.

Hello,

Logging is a powerful tool in this case. You'll need both error.log and rewrite.log to see what's happening. The logging issues are described in FAQ - http://www.helicontech.com/forum/10648-FAQ.html

In case you don't see logs being populated, you'll need to adjust the permissions - http://www.helicontech.com/isapi_rewrit ... curity.htm

Thank you for your reply.
I've looked in IIS and at the website level the ISAPI_Rewrite.dll is registered but not on the individual sites, as far as I understood this is correct?

I then added RewriteRule .? - [F] to the httpd.config file and both sites on the server gave the
"403 Forbidden" so I now know that ISAPI is working.

The ISAPI error log has numerous entries which all look like this

[11/27/2013 07:23:30] ISAPI Filter loaded. Version 3.1.0.104. Windows 5.2 (Build 3790 ServicePack:2) ProductType SERVER. CPU type INTEL NumberOfProcessors 4.

So now I'm really confused as to why the rewrite suddenly stopped working.

I'm completely new to ISAPI and rewriting so apologise for the basic questions.

Any pointers gratefully recieved.

Okay, complete apology for wasting your time, I tracked the problem to a redirect in the httaccess file.

Sue, just make sure you don't have .dll registered both globally and per-site at the same time. It will cause some serious abnormal behavior of ISAPI_Rewrite3
