Question about speed/performance

I have been working on a complete redesign and restructuring of my entire website and will be launching soon. It's a plain-jane, static HTML website; no server-side code running anywhere. The entire folder and filename structure is changing, so I have approximately 20-25,000 pages and documents which I need to set up 301 redirects for. Since I am using an IIS 6.0 server, I am looking for a 3rd party solution.

I was thinking about using the ISAPI_Rewrite software with map files in order to perform the redirects. Is this feasible, or is 20,000 individual redirects too much for ISAPI_Rewrite to handle? It's a modest server, decent Dual Core CPU, RAM -- not a beast, but not horrible.

Any guidance or suggestions the community may be able to provide are welcomed and greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Hello,

I wouldn't be concerned about performance at this level. We've had Smithsonian University redirecting over 50,000 pages from couple mapfiles with no issues(but I don't remember the specs of the server). The only thing you need to verify is a size of the mapfile. You need to have enough free memory to store this file. Since ISAPI_Rewrite does some kind of caching and keeps that file in memory to ensure good performance. Usually CPU is mot a deal breaker here.
