Hi,

I've taken over responsibility of a server. Every time I log in I am greeted with "IIS Worker Process encountered a problem and needed to close." and when I look at the Event Viewer | Application (log) there are numerous errors every day for which the properties are Source: ISAPI_Rewrite and Description: Your trial license has expired.

I don't know what ISAPI_Rewrite is, am not aware it is needed (by virutue of the fact that nothing is _not_ working that is supposed to be so the fact that this has expired is not affecting anything) and would like to uninstall it.

This application is NOT listed in the  Add or Remove Programs dialog box in Windows Server 2003 SE SP1.

How do I uninstall ISAPI_Rewrite?

Much obliged for an answer,

David Kelling

Hi David,
Excuse me for late reply.

To learn more about ISAPI_Rewrite please visit http://www.helicontech.com/isapi_rewrite/

According to your message, you just have got a trial period expiration. So, if you want to use ISAPI_Rewrite, then please purchase it.

If the application is not listed in the "Add Or Remove Programs" then please do these actions:
1) Go to IIS configuration
2) For all web-sites and for a global level please do this: open properties dialog box, select tab "ISAPI Filters", find out ISAPI_Rewrite filter and remove it.
3) Manually remove folder with ISAPI_Rewrite. By default: C:\Program Files\Helicon\ISAPI_Rewrite

To disable ISAPI_Rewrite you may simply remove ISAPI_Rewrite3.dll from the list of ISAPI filters in IIS - Web Sites Properties.
And after that you may delete ISAPI_Rewrite installation folder from Program Files.
